How much turf do I need?

You'll need enough turf to cover your space, plus 5% for waste.

Step 1: Figure out the size of your yard 📐

If your yard is a simple rectangle, the total area just the length of your yard multiplied by its width. For example, if your yard is 3 metres wide and 5 metres long, the total area of your yard is 3m x 5m = 15m2

Step 2: Add 5% for waste ♻️

When installing grass turf, some pieces need to be cut to fit around edges, curves, or around trees and garden beds. These cut pieces often can't be used elsewhere, and are called waste.

Having that extra 5% ensures that even with a bit of waste, you'll still have enough good turf to completely cover your yard!

Example calculation

If your yard is rectangular in shape and 20 metres long and 10 metres wide, the total area of your yard is 20m x 10m = 200m2.

This means you'll need 200m2 plus an additional 5%, for a total of 210m2 of turf.
